The Los Angeles Lakers have looked like a depleted force throughout the 2021-22 NBA Season, especially against star-studded, in-form teams. After losing to Toronto Raptors previously in the week, at home. The purple and gold were scheduled to travel on road to lock horns against the Eastern conference giants. But this time LeBron James and Russell Westbrook were in no mood to register another loss. 

Having already lost 10 consecutive games on the road, the Lakers did not have the odds going against their name for the win. On one hand, where LeBron James dropped 36 points, Westbrook answered his critics with clutch game-tying 3-pointers and 22 points.

To be precise, Russell Westbrook finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists on a solid 8-for-18 shooting clip. He also made what turned out to be the winning play as he generated a steal in the dying seconds of regulation and nailed a contested three-pointer to force overtime. 

Russell Westbrook also made the winning play in overtime. With the Lakers down one with less than a minute to go, Brodie found Avery Bradley wide open for the go-ahead triple from the corner. 

One game doesn’t define a season or completely shift the narrative surrounding Russell Westbrook in his maiden year with the Lakers.

But LeBron James and Lakers fans alike sure hope this game can be the turning point for the former MVP, who seriously needs to be back to his veteran best, if the Lakers are hoping to make the greatest comeback in NBA history. With a tough week lined-up in front of the purple and gold, it will be interesting to see if the marquee players of the Lakers are able to build up on this impressive victory against the Toronto Raptors.
