“The Nets are LOADED” Isiah Thomas acclaim Nets to be Championship favorites ahead of Ben Simmons, Kevin Durant return

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are definitely a team that can pose a threat to most of the other teams on the Eastern and Western Conference roster. The Nets have been in championship talks ever since the beginning of this season after they managed to bring themselves up, down a scoring option, and without much defensive help. The offensive power of the team carried theirs throughout with the added three-point shooting. Who dares stop the almighty Nets?

The team was able to finally get Kyrie Irving back after being banned from playing games as he remained unvaccinated. He made his debut and things were going just fine until Kevin Durant got hit with a knee injury and James Harden got frustrated with the situation surrounding Irving saying that he was not getting any younger. By that, he meant he needs to utilize his existing time left in order to pursue a ring.

On ESPN’s first take, Isiah Thomas praised the Nets on the move they made during the trade deadline. He said, “You have to make them the favorite right now because of the talent level that they have. His (Ben Simmons) skill sets fit exactly what Brooklyn need. Kyrie can play off the ball sometimes, you got Durant who can play off the ball, you got shot makers. Brooklyn is loaded.”

Putting this into perspective, the organization had taken James Harden’s requests into consideration after he allegedly forced a trade out of Brooklyn. He was swapped in exchange for Ben Simmons, Andre Drummond, and Seth Curry. According to many followers of the league and like the great IT said, the Nets have a solid chance of winning it all this season. Especially, now that Irving may be allowed to play in every game here onwards.

Stephen A Smith counters Isiah Thomas on his remarks regarding the Brooklyn Nets

Stephen A Smith as usual had something to counter his co-panelists with. Most of the time, he would sound off the most random takes but this time his challenge was fair enough. He said, “To say that they’re the favorites at this particular juncture, no. I do recall that there is a reigning, defending champion, that is the Milwaukee Bucks. Chemistry and defense, now those are the two things Brooklyn is lacking.”

“Can they capture it by the end of the season? Yes they can. Are they some question marks as to whether they will? Hell yes,” he continued to say. Although being under discussion, Kyrie Irving’s availability is still something that will haunt the team unless the New York City mandate changes. Then he brought up Ben Simmons who has been out for ten months even though he is fully healthy and in the best shape as can be.

IT explained his statement by bringing out attributes his team had during his time in the league which were defense and rebounding. According to him, Brooklyn has acquired exactly those two in the form of Ben Simmons who is one of the best defenders in the league, and Andre Drummond who is one of the best rebounders, which is a valid statement. He said that those two attributes are all it takes to help their remaining pieces. He further highlighted the Bucks losing a bunch of key pieces and that the Nets gained exactly those pieces with other people.
