The new way Lakers are trying to acquire Buddy Hield from Kings before trade deadline
LeBron James and Buddy Hield
The Los Angeles Lakers have looked depleted ever since they have stepped onto the court in the 2021-22 pre-season games. With Russell Westbrook’s acquisition never seeming to deliver up to its hype, new reports suggest that the purple and gold army have targeted a new marquee shooter in the form of Buddy Hield from the Sacramento Kings.
To those who are not aware, the Lakers have had bad blood against the Kings since the early 2000s. With the former team always seeming to have the upper hand in the rivalry, recent memories and matches suggest otherwise. Which has led the 2020 NBA Champions to resort to desperate measure before approaching the trade deadline in February, if they are looking to turn the tables around in this very season itself.

How can the Lakers trade for Buddy Hield?
Before the start of the 2021-22 season, the Lakers were inches away from acquiring Buddy Hield. But on the request of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Rob Pelinka’s team went ahead with the former MVP. Surely, a move which has backfired big time for the Laker Nation.
Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes revealed on his podcast that the Lakers are still pursuing Hield. This time, they are using one of their young players to try and pry him from Sacramento Kings.

“League sources have told me the Lakers reached out to the Kings about a Talen Horton-Tucker package for Buddy Hield,” Haynes said during a podcast. “Still trying to make that happen. Obviously, the Kings are like, ‘No. We feel like there’s more lucrative deals out there.’ The Kings are going to be active. They’ve got a whole bunch of people calling them.”
There is no denying that Talen Horton Tucker is one of the most valuable trading baits present at the disposal of the Lakers, but sadly for them, he hasn’t been able to guide the big fishes from the pond. While his scoring prowess is an advantage for many teams yet his inconsistency is mainly keeping big teams to make a move. That being said all eyes currently are on the Lakers and their moves before the trade deadline approaches in February? Will they be able to make additions into their roster, with the likes of Buddy Hield? Remains to be seen.
