Recently, the Golden State Warriors slipped down from the 2nd seed in the Western Conference where they remained for a good amount of the regular season. The Dubs had an exceptional run during the first half of the season in the absence of Klay Thompson which made their future all the more fearful. Stephen Curry was in great form scoring 29.1 points per game during that period. Eventually, Thompson made his debut only for the Warriors to face more injuries.

On January 9th, Klay was announced to make his long-awaited return after facing two major injuries that kept him out for two years. Unfortunately, Draymond Green faced a back injury that stop the Warriors from debuting the trio that three titles together. Green was sidelined for almost two months and regrouped on March 7th after being cleared by the coaching staff.

Stephen Curry gets injured against the Boston Celtics

On March 17th, the Warriors faced another terrible loss after Stephen Curry went down with an ankle injury. In a loose ball play, Curry collided with Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart and twisted his ankle in the mix. Fortunate enough, the greatest shooter of all time did not face any serious structural damage leaving the Warriors hopeful for his return during the playoffs.

Steve Kerr opened up about Curry’s return saying, “I talked to Steph yesterday, and he’s still sorta in the rehab stage. He’s not on the court yet, but everything is going well. They’re gonna be cautious and make sure everything is in order by the time he really gets back on the court and starts getting after it. That hasn’t happened yet, but it shouldn’t be too far off.”

Since Curry’s injury, the Warriors have gone 1-6 defeating the Miami Heat last week. In one of their most recent deficits, Klay Thompson took it upon himself for the slump the three-time title holders have been in. He said, “I gotta make some shots man. I can’t be air balling and shooting off the side of the backboard. I gotta be better.”

Green had also opened up about the Warriors’ recent shortcomings blaming it on himself for not playing well enough. He said on his podcast, “I got a little backlash from people who know the game. Just saying that ‘Yo, give yourself a break. You’re coming off a very serious injury.’ Thanks, I appreciate it but the reality is I’ve been terrible. What am I going to do to fix that? I’m going to continue to do what I’ve been doing which is putting the work in.”
