‘These aren’t little ticky-tack injuries’ Lakers’ Anthony Davis fires back at critics

The Los Angeles Lakers have virtually fallen out of play-in contention, with them being nearly three games behind the San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers also have one of the hardest schedules remaining among the teams playing the Suns, the warriors, the thunder and finally the Nuggets. So, it’s safe to say that this year’s play-offs will be without Lebron James and co. which will be his second time missing playoffs with the Lakers.

As the season is nearly over for the team, the critics have come out heavily against the team and its superstar players namely- Lebron James, Anthony Davis and Russel Westbrook. Some critics and former players like Kareem Abdul Jabbar have criticized Lebron James for the team’s abysmal performance, saying that Lebron has chased after stats while staying in LA. While some have gone after Russel Westbrook, but their numbers have decreased as compared to the start of the season as he has played many good games in the latter half of the season.

Critics continue to blame Anthony Davis’ fitness and health

However, most of the critics blame health-related problems and its magnet Anthony Davis for not getting to the playoffs. According to them, he has been sitting on the bench with some minor injuries, while Lebron was playing another great season with a sore knee. Anthony Davis has missed about 38 of the 78 games played by the Lakers, with a knee injury and an ankle injury.

Even with him being playing nearly 35 minutes in his return against the Nuggets, he was seen icing his injured ankle, during breaks and sometimes seen limping while going backcourt for Défense.

Now Anthony Davis has come out against the critics, in his latest post-conference, saying, “These aren’t some ticky-tacky injuries“.  He even said that if the need arises then he will play with pain in the last 4 games in an effort to get the lakers in the final play-in spot. Because according to him, he at 60 percent is way better than some of the guys at 100 percent.

He said, “At this point, I know what we’re playing for, If I’ve got to go through this pain — hopefully, it’s not the last four games, hopefully, it’s more — then, so be it. I know that me, myself and my team, know I left it out on the floor. Just like I did in the playoffs last year as well. Give myself a chance — and help give our team chance”.

Now for the lakers to qualify to the playing, the San Antonio Spurs would have to lose its remaining four matches and the lakers would have to win at least 3 of its four, which seems improbable as of now. However, If it loses any one match and the spurs win another one, their play-in hopes are over.
