“They are gonna be just fine”: Kendrick Perkins urges sympathy and reinstates his belief in Nets’ Big 3 to deliver this season

Brooklyn Nets' Big 3 and Kendrick Perkins

Kendrick Perkins is a retired NBA player who now is a host at ESPN’s First Take and also a player analyst for the same company. Recently Perkins appeared on “All The Smoke” a podcast hosted by Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. Kendrick along with the two hosts discussing the league gave away mid-season awards as the regular season has crossed the halfway mark and many outcomes can be predicted.

In the hour-long talk of Kendrick Perkins, Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson they discussed the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, MVP candidates, and also remembered Legendary Kobe Bryant. Nets were the topic which was talked the most about by the three. As the big 3 of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving were already title favorite even before the season began. But now with James Harden the only one left in rotation with the other two injured have the team struggling as they don’t really have many options to rely on.

Currently, the Brooklyn Nets are ranked as the 4th seed in the eastern conference with the record of 29 wins and 19 losses at .604 with three games losing streak. Kyrie Irving is an unvaccinated part-time player for the team and James Harden isn’t having a good season so far while Kevin Durant is injured and side-lined for another month and more. With all these cons active and running Kendrick still believes in the team as he lets everyone know alongside Barnes and Jackson.

Matt gave a quick recap regarding the Brooklyn Nets to Kendrick Perkins wanting him to talk about the team. Perkins replying to it quoted: “You know what they are gonna be just fine like healthy they are gonna be fine. Here’s the thing I tell people all the time I’ll rather have a part-time Kyrie than a no-time Kyrie. So it is what it is to this point. We have to respect his decision of not getting vaccinated because he is not the only player that’s not vaccinated…In the play-offs, role players play better at home and the role players Brooklyn Nets got and James Harden and KD can win them home games together they not what we think they are. On-road the role players tighten it up….fresh Kyrie can give you a 30, 40 and 50.”

Matt Barnes then bought a what-if question to the table as he said “What if due to KD’s injury the team slides down of the home-court advantage?” Replying to it all of them looked at the brighter side and mentioned Kevin getting some rest out of it and hoped for the whole team to be healthy. But the Brooklyn Nets don’t really have a deep bench or even good rotational players on their roster as of now and it was also mentioned by Stephen Jackson as he went on to criticize Joe Harris for his last season’s performance.

Kendrick and the hosts also appreciated Patty Mills and LaMarcus Aldridge for stepping up in this troubling time and wanting them to be a part of the rotation. As LaMarcus can start as the center. Further, they also pitched in a lineup of five best players to the Brooklyn Nets as Jackson quoted: “Patty Mills at 1, Kyrie at 2, James, KD and LaMarcus.” This probably was the best offensive lineup for the team as Kendrick and Barnes agreed to it but size still remains a problem on the other end as James Harden can not really get 10 rebounds.
