The Los Angeles Lakers were ousted from the playoff race after their recent loss to the Phoenix Suns. And after the loss, many NBA critics and fans have criticized the lakers. And NBA critic Zach Lowe, even said that the lakers season may qualify as one of the most disappointing single-season teams in NBA history.
The Lakers were the preseason favorites for winning the NBA championship according to the Ceasers sportsbook after trading for Russell Westbrook. But their big three didn’t have that much playing time, only playing for about 21 games.
Zach Lowe calls the Lakers team’s season the most disappointing NBA season
Lebron James at the age of 37 years, has been dealing with various injuries, which have sidelined him for various important matches over the season. However, when he played, he played like an MVP. He is head and neck for the scoring title with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid. And Anthony Davis has only played 39 games this season, with him being out due to knee and ankle injuries.
On the show Getup with Zach Lowe and Brian Windhorst, Zach Lowe said that “Even if the expectations were low, to be sniffing about 20 games under 500, this qualifies as the single most disappointing single-season team in NBA history…. And they can’t even take injuries as their reason for their season… because the teams ahead of them, the pelicans didn’t have Zion Williamson all year and Brandon Ingram was out for about 23 games and they started the season 3 and 16… they fought back, and they are in the play-in tournament.”
Brian Windhorst even said that even when the big three of Lebron, Anthony, and Westbrook play together for only 21 games, they only won 11 and lost 10, and when AD played, they were 6 games under .500 and they are blaming their defeat on injuries and bad luck… whereas the reality is that their team isn’t very good.
And now after their exit from the play-in race, it remains to be seen, what moves are made by the laker’s front office in the offseason and whether Lebron who is up for his contract resigning returns to the lakers for a contract extension or he goes somewhere else to play with his son Bronny.
