Tyrese Maxey and Scottie Barnes, belonging to the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors respectfully have had a fantastic season, being of much use to their respective teams and have thus had their names being discussed as Rookie of The Year candidates which doesn’t seem to be aligning with the kind of performance, they showed in the Rising Star shooting contest.

With what people seem to be calling an effect of Jet Lag and others bashing them for missing multiple layups in such a short span of time, let us now take a deeper look into what happened, what could be the reason for it, what could be the implications of such a performance in a Rising Star competition and where do they go from here.

The fact that both of these players have had an amazing regular season with Tyrese Maxey averaging 16.9points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game and Scottie Barnes averaging 14.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists which are commendable stats at such a young age surprise us more when we see them both missing 6 layups in a really short span of time and looking confused about it.

Scottie initially missed 4 of his attempts after which Tyrese stepped in, in an attempt to steal the show and did the same exact thing, shoot bricks. In a competition against the clock, the players had to recreate 5 major shots, which they were unable to do, even from inside the paint and at the end, had 6 missed shots to their name along with a tonne of disappointment and disrespect.

Despite such a performance, both the players seem to have enjoyed their night which definitely was a memorable one. After seeing the players perform in such a way, the Sixers and the Raptors will hope that the players don’t end up shooting bricks in the regular season as well, as it would cause a lot of harm to their records.
