“It’s a slap in the face!” NBA veteran slams Warriors for doing Klay Thompson wrong over contract ‘ultimatum’

Klay Thompson feels disrespected by the Warriors

Former 4-time champion and 5-time All-Star Klay Thompson had a poor season with the Golden State Warriors last season. Thompson struggled with his shooting and also found himself coming off the bench at one point. While many experts have talked about Klay’s free agency status, former NBA stars Gilbert Arenas and Kenyon Martin talked about the situation on the ‘Gils Arena’ podcast.

In the latest episode of the podcast, they discussed the Warriors’ move to make Klay Thompson come off the bench for rookie Brandin Podziemski. The duo deemed this disrespectful. After how much he has given and helped the franchise during their 4 championships.

You paid Draymond...I'm [Klay] a bucket, I've averaged more points than him, we don't do none of this without me. And this is the thanks I get? It's a slap in the face.

Martin said “That’s a sign of disrespect” as Thompson had come back from two devastating injuries and putting him on the bench for a rookie to start is just straight up disrespectful, Martin stated. Nevertheless, it was Thompson’s play coming off the bench that also made him rediscover his game.

Golden State Warriors lost both Klay Thompson and Chris Paul for nothing

Golden State Warriors has been one of the greatest organizations if not the greatest in the last decade with 4 championships in the last 10 years. They are the richest NBA team with a net worth of $7.7 billion. The team is known for scouting great talent and making great free agency moves but it seems like they made the biggest mistake in franchise history.

The Warriors missed the playoffs last season and lost in the play-in against the Sacramento Kings. Moreover, they had a chance to make a better team around the 36-year-old Stephen Curry. First, they lost Chris Paul for nothing after they waived him off his contract and could have traded him for some great assets for the team. Now they have also lost their star Klay Thompson over a dispute with the management.

While every team in the Western Conference is getting better, the Warriors have just lost their two big assets. Still, as the free agency has started Warriors might have a chance to get a great superstar or some good role players.
