Watch: Houston players prompt Kevin Porter Jr to record first ever triple-double vs Thunder
The Houston Rockets despite being in a struggling condition this season from the start are looking good at team chemistry. The Rockets were on a losing streak and had lost 15 straight games untill last week but since Kevin Porter Jr. is back on the roster healthy and looking good the team is on a 3-0 (W-L) run.
In the latest matchup between Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder the young, athletic and energetic guard recorded his first career triple double with 11 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. The last rebound for Kevin Porter Jr which marked him his first career triple double was a very organized team effort.
Oklahoma City Thunder being down by 15 points but still putting the effort in, made Theo Maledon pull up for a wide open shot from the three point line which he ended up missing and the rebound straight went towards the Houston Rockets giant Alperen Sengun. Being a good teammate and aware of the stats Alperen just tapped the ball into the Rockets team huddle under the rim since no one from Oklahoma City Thunder came up to chase.
Then Josh Christopher started screaming towards Kevin Porter Jr to “Go get the ball” the scream was so loud that even the broadcaster’s mic caught it over the crowd. This rebound led Kevin Porter Jr to his first career triple-double which also showcased that the energy in the locker room of Houston Rockets is good.
Comeback run for Houston Rockets; as Kevin Porter Jr registers first ever triple double
Since the return of Kevin Porter Jr the Houston Rockets are on a 3-0 run after beating the Oklahoma City Thunder by 102-89. The chemistry between the team is looking good as everyone is aware with the situation they currently are stuck in. Both the young stars for the team Christian Wood and Kevin Porter Jr stepped up and displayed amazing chemistry between them while their matchup against Oklahoma City Thunder with great vision of making passes and cutting across to make space and get a bucket.
Kevin Porter Jr explained this run and his role in it by saying “Just be me.” and further adding it to it he said “I’ve been trying to be something I’m not. After that injury, I was able to observe, and I came back out and played my game.”
Houston’s have John Wall ready on the trade table or him coming off the bench if the team is able to trade the guard for a veteran who can fetch buckets and maintain lead in the game. Houston Rockets might turn things around them since this is a 82 game season and the team has a lot of time left to make the changes and comeback with winning games.
