“Win a title” Chris Broussard blasts James Harden for not being able to clinch a championship despite having star-studded partners

Chris Broussard on James Harden

James Harden is as good as he is, can drop 20 plus points on any given day, but does he have what it takes to win an NBA championship in a 7-game series, Chris Broussard talks about his limited chances of winning a title.

James Harden and his history with star teammates

James Harden was drafted in 2009 where he was picked 3rd overall in the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunders, where the Thunders already had Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, with them he reached the NBA finals with the thunders for the first time, the Thunders were playing the Miami Heats which packed LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade as their big 3.

Unfortunately for James Harden, they lost the series 4-1, one silver lining for Harden that season was that he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year, he was not happily playing under the shadows of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook and wanted a trade.

James Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets, and in his first season with the Rockets he was equalling many team records, he was selected 8 times in a row in the NBA All-star teams, he won the Regular Season MVP in 2018, during his spell with the Rockets, he was paired with the Point God Chris Paul but things just wouldn’t happen for him, and he got traded out of the Rockets.

In 2021 he signed with the Brooklyn Nets where he was being paired with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Nets made a monster team that was destined to be lifting the NBA title, and things on the face of it looked tempting to James Harden and his chances of winning a title. James Harden was again faced with misfortune, when Kevin Durant got injured and Kyrie Irving’s vaccination status hampered the seasons for the Nets his vaccination status is part of the reason why he wanted to leave the Nets in the first place.

Things started to ugly for them and he gave up on the team, that’s what he did. He then demanded to be traded to the Philadelphia 76ers where he will play with Joel Embiid who is in his prime this season. That’s a whole lot of star names to be winning titles with, but James Harden certainly is running from facing adversity, that’s how it has been for him.

Chris Broussard on James Harden

Chris Broussard and James Harden

Chris Broussard is a sports analyst and commentator for Fox Sports 1 and covers the NBA. He pointed out to James Harden to win a title but questions his ability to be ready for the challenge that comes to win the title, Michael Jordan and LeBron James who are the greatest of all times didn’t win it easily, they both have 6 titles and 4 titles respectively, LeBron James won 4 championships in 18 years, which does show how hard it can be to win a title. “But there are serious questions on whether or not James Harden has the fortitude and the resilience to win a championship, it is tough to win an NBA title, it is hard, it is taxing”, said Chris Broussard.

James Harden does not have what it takes to win an NBA title, “Thus far James Harden has not shown that he has the make-up to fight through the adversity that it takes to get to that level. He just hasn’t, because when the going has gotten tough, he has left,” said Chris. James Harden going to the Nets and saying things are not going his way, or this is not what he signed up for, he left the Nets in a very poor fashion, he got sulky and scored just 4 points, not something one would expect from him. He is one of those great players who have not a championship is acceptable but playing with some star names on your teams such as Dwight Howard, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving, and now Joel Embiid, Chris delivers a realistic ultimatum to James Harden that he has 2 years at most to a championship, “That list of teammates Nick is going to a stain on his legacy that he couldn’t win it with any of those guys.”
