Kyrie Irving has for the first time in forever played in the Barclays Center after the COVID-19 Pandemic and it was not a home game that he would have wanted, as LaMelo Ball finishes him off by shooting 3 consecutive 3’s over the Nets guard.
Kyrie Irving plays his first home game
Kyrie Irving has been waiting all season for a chance to play in front of the home fans, and he got his wish when the NYC COVID Mandate was relaxed, which made Kyrie Irving available for selection in games held at home (New York City), he played his first game for the Nets at home against the Charlotte Hornets, everybody must’ve been expecting Kyrie Irving to play with some level of excitement and drive, and put on a show, after what looked to be a fill strength Brooklyn Nets. But the Nets were edged by the Charlotte Hornets.
Charlotte Hornets won the game with a comfortable scoreline at the end of 119-110. Kyrie Irving didn’t enjoy the night after losing in his first game back at home. And sure, he had his say after the game, “Not the result we wanted, I didn’t shoot as well as I wanted, basically none of the things I had hoped for going well tonight just didn’t happen, and that’s just the flow of basketball.” Said Kyrie Irving after the game. Irving finished the game with 16 points, 11 assists, and 2 rebounds, not something which we are usually treated to by Uncle Drew but, there is more to come from him.
LaMelo Ball spoils Kyrie Irving’s first home game
It was not a game for the Nets guard but for the Hornets guard, LaMelo Ball. Kyrie Irving received a great reception from the home fans, it had the highest number of spectators as Kyrie Irving was named in the lineup. All to his misfortune, he was unable to convert this atmosphere into a victory for the Nets. Kevin Durant was pleased with Kyrie’s return, “It was great to see him out there, good to see the fans excited for him. Unfortunately, we took the ‘L’ though, but we move forward knowing that we have him here and build on what we have and try to get a win next game.” Said Durant after the game.
LaMelo Ball was the one who spoiled the night for the Nets by registering a big win for the Hornets. The Hornets were propelled by LaMelo Balls’ wizardry and are now sitting above Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference at #8. LaMelo Ball had 33 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds, out of the 33 points, he shot 18 in the 3rd quarter and destroyed Kyrie Irving by shooting 3 consecutive 3’s over Kyrie, he did so by shooting 7 3’s from beyond the arc with attempting a total of 12.
