“You MAD MELO?” Russell Westbrook in disbelief after Carmelo Anthony decides to take ‘GLORY-SHOT’ in Clippers sweep over Lakers
Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony
Russell Westbrook along with his team the Los Angeles Lakers can’t stop taking Ls as they add another one to their list of miserable losses despite being very close to victory. In what seems to be a clear lack of understanding, communication and decision-making skills, Carmelo Anthony shot a brick after he took a pass from LeBron James who already was in a lot of pressure keeping in mind just the 1-point difference that was there between both the teams favoring the Clippers at that point of time. Russell Westbrook who stood right under the rim could do nothing but watch the state of his team who have been able to change nothing in order to get the required dubs.
Carmelo Anthony thought he had a bit of Stephen Curry in him as he attempted to shoot a 30-footer with around 9 seconds remaining on the clock even though there were multiple possibilities of passes and plays that he could’ve made instead of hastily going for the 3-pointer which cost them the match in a much-needed victory. Russell Westbrook who was right under the rim during this encounter seemed shook when he saw 37-year-old Carmelo Anthony taking a 3-point attempt and not to his surprise, Anthony missed.
LeBron James who passed the ball to Anthony after taking a lot of time is also being blamed on the internet for passing the ball to a player who seems to be rusty with his shots after not being able to perform very often and therefore, the problems in no way seem to be ending any time soon for the Lakers.
Let us now take a closer look at this sequence which includes James’ pass, Anthony’s shot and Westbrook’s facial expressions which were the funniest and the saddest things you would see at the same time.
Carmelo Anthony disappoints the Lakers including Russell Westbrook with failed “Glory-Shot”
LeBron James was disappointed and so was Russell Westbrook, and it did show in their facial expressions as James started calculating the different options, he could’ve chosen instead of passing the ball to Melo who cost the Lakers a much-needed victory over the Clippers, who were tough as nails in the match and didn’t seem to be giving up at any point.
LeBron James who passed the ball to a 37-year-old Carmelo Anthony after a brilliant shot made by the Clippers’ Marcus Morris probably thought that Melo would make the shot or at least pass it to someone else in order to get them a 1-point lead which would give them the dub. Instead, what actually happened is that LeBron consumed quite a lot of time before giving a supposedly “bad” pass to Anthony, who then instead of passing it to anyone else, took a 30-footer 3-point attempt, eventually missing as everyone from the Lakers looked in disappointment at Melo first and then James, who passed it to him.
The Lakers lost the opportunity to bring themselves in the lead with just 2.2 seconds remaining on the clock and eventually lost the match which easily could’ve been won by them if not for this sequence at the very end moment which was a Stephen Curry level expectation of LeBron James from any of his Lakers’ teammates.

Russell Westbrook seemed more disappointed by the fact that LeBron passed the ball to Carmelo instead of choosing anyone else and Carmelo missed an easy shot, than the Lakers’ close margin loss to the Clippers. With what seems to be a never ending river of sorrow for the Lakers and specifically Russell Westbrook who has constantly been under fire for his inconsistent performances, the Lakers have lost yet another match and have done nothing to get themselves out of the mud.
Lakers vs Clippers, 105-102
The Lakers vs Clippers match which ended in a 3-point victory for the Clippers was nothing less than a complete failure of planning and understanding for the former, which has already been struggling to find form and take themselves ahead in the league in order to even remain in contention for the playoffs, the chances of which, seem very narrow at this point for the Lakers.
In a disappointing performance by the team, James led the way for the Lakers with 21 points, followed by Anthony and Westbrook who scored 18 points each in an inadequate effort.
Terence Mann led the way for the Clippers who had an overall performance in the game with 19 points, followed by Luke Kennard who scored 18 points and then Reggie Jackson who scored 17 points in an effort which was enough to get them the dub against the Lakers.
Russell Westbrook who has suffered throughout the season with his inconsistent performances will finally be a bit satisfied at least to some extent after seeing someone perform arguably worse then him, but this doesn’t mark an end to his struggles as the Lakers still have a long way to go.
