The NFL has been at the forefront of the sporting world. So much so, that anybody associated with the league stands to earn from it in a big way. This has led to several broadcasting and streaming giants wanting to get a slice of the pie. Netflix, the $291 billion streaming giant, is scheduled to stream both Christmas day games. With such a brilliant opportunity at hand, the company is looking to make hay when the sun shines.
According to Bill Bradley of Adweek, Netflix is putting together packages for prospective sponsors. The minimum price of a package is touted to be at least $5 million. A significant windfall considering the average Christmas day game brings in close to 30 million viewers. Netflix wants to take advantage of the situation and will send these packages to the Big 8 sponsors with the first right of refusal. There will be 8 advertisement slots starting from the pre-game show all the way to the post-game show.

Suggesting that the amount will not go in vain. Christmas day evenings generally bring about a major surge in viewership as families are mostly at home. Knowing the demand Netflix are trying to cash in, while trying to recoup the significant amount of money they paid to the league to win the bid.
NFL Christmas Day games will be streamed live for the 1st time. Netflix and the NFL are cashing in on the widespread reach to improve viewership and bring in more fans.
NFL Christmas Day games will light up holiday mood
When the NFL released its schedules, it was evident what the league was prioritizing. It showed that the league was looking to favor those that are expected to draw the most attention. As on Christmas Day, the NFL is in a constant fight with the NBA to win over viewers. Even though last time they won the battle, this time they did not take a chance with the matchups this season.

Last season both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles went up against their respective longtime rivals. However, with both their respective opponents being some of the worst teams in the league, it almost ended up costing the league. This time around, they did not take a chance and brought in the Baltimore Ravens to replace the ‘not sure how their season will pan out’ Eagles. More importantly, they did not skimp on the opponents either Super Bowl favorite.
The Kansas City Chiefs will go up against a Pittsburgh Steelers team looking to make their mark. On the other hand, the Baltimore Ravens will play the rapidly improving Houston Texans. Prime matchups which Netflix is looking to earn out of.
