New Downed Mode Hinted by Data Miners, 2 Second Revive and more | Valorant
Valorant is a free-to-play FPS shooter, continuously enhancing game experiences by introducing new elements, and Downed mode is one such probable element discovered by data miners recently. Developed by Riot Games, the game borrows inspiration from popular games such as Counter-Strike and Overwatch. Characters in the game have various unique abilities that the players can use to make some game-changing plays. Moreover, the game has a selection of gameplay modes, and the latest mined data might be the possibility of a new one.
We dive into the probability of a new gameplay mode that might be the latest element in Valorant, after the inclusion of Breeze.
Downed Mode: A Possible Game Mode in Valorant
Now that Valorant’s latest patch, 2.08, is out in the wild, Valorant data miners have new files to study, and one, in particular, has discovered a very interesting reference to some sort of “downed” mechanic set to be introduced at some point in the future. It could possibly hint at a new game mode or Agent to be added later down the line. There have been rumors of a possible Battle Royale mode in Valorant some time ago already.
Some data that was mined a while back also indicated the possibility of Valorant introducing a mobile version. While there is no hard evidence of either of those coming anytime soon, this newest string of code that was unearthed by Mike – Valorant Leaks & Info on Twitter seems to be definitely worth the attention and the possible introduction of a new element, Downed Mode.
Mentions of the downed and revived gameplay feature were discovered by the popular Valorant leaker and data miner:
Currently, the following details are known about the Downed mode from the game files:
- Downed health: 100HP
- Max Downed Time: 15 Seconds
- When revived, players will have 50HP.
- Players can revive from 2M away.
- Reviving Takes 2 Seconds.
The code indicates a player entering a “downed” state upon receiving some damage and being left with 100 health points upon entering the state. The player may be revived by a teammate from not further than 2 meters away leading to the revived player getting back into combat with 50 health points. Also, the reviving time takes a measly two seconds. Apparently, there’s also a ScoringBonus line that shows the player entering the downed state receiving -4.0, being a particular score that is being tallied throughout the round.
Although the downed and revive gameplay mechanics are most commonly associated with popular Battle Royal games like PUBG, and Call of Duty: Warzone, it might not be possible Valorant in the near future, as informed by Mike himself. While nothing here directly points to a Battle Royale mode in Valorant, a Downed mode, as well as a reviving feature is something closely connected to the popular game mode of Battle Royale.
Here’s a detailed video on the newest introductions and speculations on Valorant:
The addition of a Battle Royale mode to Valorant can potentially spike the player counts of the title by a huge margin and give it an edge over other popular modern-day multiplayer shooters out there. Adding new mechanics to the current mode can alter essential gameplay and might throw the delicate balance of competitive rankings off. Hence, any new gameplay mechanics seem preferable for the new gameplay mode.
Although, evident from the other inclusions like Snowball Fight and Escalation, the new mode might also provide an alternate, more fun, less stressful game mode for players playing Unrated and Rated modes.
