New Orleans Pelicans star Larry Nance Jr. instantly regrets using the word betting after Jontay Porter's recent ban
Jontay Porter has just finished clearing out his locker in the NBA. With how the events transpired for him, even using the word ‘bet’ would be a problem for anyone associated with the NBA. It so happened that New Orleans Pelicans star Larry Nance Jr. did end up using the word during his post-game press conference. Only to hilariously regret it after realizing what he said.
While speaking at the post-game press conference, the forward was asked who he sees winning the 1st round of the playoffs. He said:
Respectfully, I'm bettin' on the Pels.Larry Nance Jr. at the post-game press conference
Instantly he realized he had used the one word he should not have, and tried to fix it by saying;
I'm not betting. No Jontay Porter. I'm not BETTING. I'm not betting on anything. I don't own a betting app, none of that.Larry Nance Jr. at the post-game press conference
The whole room burst out laughing as he tried to recant the most controversial word in the NBA. Even he saw the humor in it suggesting that he is not doing anything like Jontay Porter.
In between that humor, it was evident that betting has become the hottest topic in basketball. Just like fans and analysts are having their own discussions, players also are talking about what happened. His instant regret also shows that players know even mentioning the word can complicate matters.
The NBA issued Porter with a lifetime ban for betting which has sent shockwaves throughout the league. Larry Nance Jr. was implying that he considers the New Orleans Pelicans a threat in the playoffs.
New Orleans Pelicans lock up 8th seed without Zion Williamson
Larry Nance Jr. is optimistic that his New Orleans Pelicans can survive the first round against the Oklahoma City Thunder even though superstar Zion Williamson will be unavailable. Tonight’s game was a glimpse into how the team will play without their superstar manning the middle.
Brandon Ingram led his team to a spirited fight against the Sacramento Kings. Contributions from the likes of Nance Jr. helped the Pelicans have sufficient firepower. This was important against the Kings, whose two leading superstars were trying to negate it with elite numbers of their own. However, energy, hustle, and the willingness to defend gave the Pelicans the edge.
Based on this game’s performances, Nance Jr. thinks they should be written away against the Thunder. A day of rest later, the Pelicans vs Thunder 1st round playoffs will commence the day after.
