“He’s finished!” – Neymar Jr. missing out on Brazil’s Copa America 2024 roster sparks WILD reactions on social media

From leading Brazil’s attack at every major tournament to ‘failing’ to make the Copa America squad for its 2024 edition, Neymar Jr.‘s career has taken quite the hit in the last few years. Despite being the Selecao’s second-most capped player and their highest-ever goal scorer, fans found it surprising that Neymar didn’t make the squad.

While fans got into a heated argument as to why the Brazilian federation opted not to choose him, it is imperative to mention one crucial detail. The Brazil No.10 has been sidelined for the past seven months or so owing to a serious injury picked up while on international duty.

A quick flashback to his last game versus Uruguay reminded fans how he twisted his knee awkwardly and was later stretchered out of the pitch while in tears.

Ever since, the player has kept his fans updated about his recovery, sharing regularly on social media. However, with age catching up to the forward, fans are forced to wonder if he’ll ever play a Copa America tournament again.

Fans react to Neymar Jr. being left out of the Brazilian squad for Copa America 2024

Neymar Jr. was next in line to take-over from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo once their time was up. However, Messi and Ronaldo are still playing their best football while the Brazilian has been forced to spend his days in recovery. As it stands, this year’s Copa America will commence on the 21st of June, with the final being played almost a month later on July 15.

Certain fans criticized media outlets for making such a huge deal out of his exclusion. Neymar’s tentative return is August and him not making the squad is indeed obvious.

A fan said that no player has been more unlucky while dealing with injuries. Many still believe that his injuries were the only thing the held him back from greatness.

Many called for fans to offer their support to the player in this tough time. While Neymar’s exclusion certainly is a hit for the Selecao, fans pointed to Vinicius Jr. as the most fitting candidate to carry Brazil forward. Not all fans were kind though, as they laughed at Neymar for being finished and wasting away his prime years trying to win something with PSG.
