Neymar walks off injured clutching his left groin, putting his availability for Paris Saint Germain’s trip to Barcelona
Paris Saint Germain plays FC Barcelona in six days in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash in Barcelona. The soon to be played matches were a solid affair as it would have seen Neymar and Lionel Messi go head to head against each other in a double header. It would have seen the student showing how much he had matured after leaving the shadow of his master. However that seems to be in danger with the student Neymar having left the pitch in a match against Caen clutching his left groin.
Is this a pattern or just a freak coincidence of nature?
Neymar has suffered from quite a lot of injuries and some have come in less than subtle circumstances. Neymar was injured for the second leg of the Manchester United v Paris Saint Germain round of 16 clash in the 2018/19 Champions League season. This match coincided with his sister’s birthday and many stated that his injury was ‘fake’ and that he simply wanted to attend a party instead of playing for his team. It would seem to be a curse as for more than 3 years this sort of an event has been going on.
Now, FC Barcelona is the opponent for Paris Saint Germain as the latter aims to go one above what they managed to accomplish last time. They lost to Bayern Munich last season in the 2019/20 Champions League finals as Frenchman Kingsley Coman scored the one goal that proved to be the difference. However even before they could take a step in that direction, one of their superstars falls to injury and now everything rests on Kylian Mbappe once again. It remains to be seen if Neymar has a major injury or could make it for the first leg clash against FC Barcelona.
