“You done got OLD, the proof’s in the pudding”: Cam Newton gets BASHED for claiming he is a top 32 quarterback in the NFL

It’s been over a season since Cameron Newton last played a snap as a starting quarterback in the National Football League. He was later cut from the New England Patriots and then went to the team that drafted him, the Carolina Panthers but even that situation did not work out for him and he is once again out of a job. Cam played a total of 8 games in his last season and had a completion percentage of 69 and threw for 684 yards and 4 TDs. That is below average for even the worst team in the entire league.

Cam recently appeared on a podcast with Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder where he spoke on a lot of topics, the one topic of interest was his career and what he expects moving forward. Cam still believes that he has got what it takes to be a top quarterback in this league even today. He feels that there is no way that there are 32 other quarterbacks in the league who are better than him. But as is with every podcast, the hosts did not nod their heads and agree with him, they disagreed with him and thought he is past his prime.

“I saw what you did in New England and when you went back to Carolina”: Channing Crowder does not hold back while talking to Cam Newton

Cam Newton and Mac Jones
Cam Newton lost his starting role to Mac Jones

Cam Newton made a bold statement when he was asked on if he still is a top dog, “There’s not 32 guys better than me. ON MY SOUL,” Cam states, at this point, Channing Crowder gives him a death stare looking at him like he is delusional. Cam is open-minded and tells him to “Ask your questions and let’s debate. At the end of the day, compare Apples to Apples, and Oranges to Oranges, certain situations for certain situations, and if you think that I couldn’t be on somebody’s team right now, you a damn fool.” The quarterback did not hold back while replying.

Channing Crowder makes his case as to why Newton is not a top-32 quarterback in the NFL. He feels that Newton is an anomaly, there have been very few quarterbacks who have been his size and have had his agility. However, he feels that Newton is past his prime and that his best days are behind him. “Cam, you are big as fu*k, like to be a quarterback, you are a defensive lineman playing quarterback, I love you and I would draft you to my team on Madden and trade for you.” Crowder says, Newton is not interested in all this talk and tells him straight up, “We ain’t talking about that.”

“You are 33 years old, you done got old. You are one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world right NOW? Cam, I cannot accept that, I cannot accept it. I saw what you did in New England when you moved back to Carolina, I saw what happened. The proof is in the pudding.” Channing concludes. He does have a point, the last time we saw Cam play, he was fighting for the starter’s role with a rookie who had not played a single snap. He lost his job to Mac Jones and was never really the Cam that took the Panthers to the Super Bowl.

Cam Newton feels that he was done wrong by the New England and Panthers as both situations were “fu*ked up.” He believes that in Carolina he put himself in a bad situation, one where he should not have entertained, “I was signed on Thursday, I played on Sunday. At what point did you think you were gonna be successful? That next week, I started. That’s still up under 10 days of you being on the team, and you’re still trying to learn an offense…So before I sit up here and allow the narrative to be made that Cam ain’t got it no more, Cam is taking full responsibility and saying that Cam put himself in a fuc*ed up situation.” Cam claps back.
It is indeed hard to learn an entire offense in just a timeframe of 3-10 days, you are playing at an elite level and against the smartest players around the world. We cannot discount Cam’s arguments either. However, as of now, it appears that Cam Newton’s time in the NFL is done.
