“A tough one for me personally,” Packers HC Matt LaFleur laments after Davante Adams’ whopping trade to the Las Vegas Raiders

The Green Bay Packers are still struggling to cope with the loss of their Premier wide receiver, Davante Adams. The 29-year old signed a massive deal with the Las Vegas Raiders days after Aaron Rodgers agreed to a contract extension with the Packers.

Davante Adams chose to partner up with his former college mate, Derek Carr ahead of another season with Aaron Rodgers, in a statement trade deal. Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has evidently still not recovered from the loss of his veteran wide-out.

Sometimes you got to make some tough decisions,” LaFleur said in an interview with NFL Network. “Certainly appreciate everything Davante brought to our team. I mean, he is the best receiver in the National Football League, so that was a tough one for me personally and for our organization.”

LaFleur also said that he did not have much say, in Davante Adams’ trade, and it was a very tough decision on the part of the franchise to let him go.

LaFleur continued, “Well, there really wasn’t anything to talk about. I mean, you’re going through contract negotiation and certainly, it was just one of those deals where, like I said, a lot of tough decisions had to be made.”

The Packers know how hard it will be to find a substitute for Adams this season, especially after they let go of their other wide receiver, Marquez Valdes-Scantling. At the moment they are extremely short-staffed in the position and need to make significant signings in the coming months to make themselves title challengers.

Aaron Rodgers will also feel the absence of a top-quality wide receiver if the signings do not happen and will in all probability find it extremely difficult to win games for his side all by himself.
