The 2022 NFL offseason is turning out to be one of the craziest offseasons in the history of the game, with players being traded left and right every day. The newest addition to the narrative was Kansas City Chiefs’ nimble-footed Wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

The 28-year old signed a mammoth contract with the Miami Dolphins for 4 years. The newly signed contract will see him pocket a whopping $120m during the course of his time at the franchise.

“How in the hell did you let him get away?” – Stephen A. Smith is perplexed by the Chiefs’ decision of trading Tyreek Hill

Tyreek Hill was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft. With the Chiefs, Hill has transformed into the ‘Cheetah’ and is one of the most feared wide receivers in the league. He has been selected to six Pro Bowls in his six years in the league and is the fastest man in the NFL. Hill has garnered over 6,630 receiving yards from 479 receptions scoring a total of 67 touchdowns so far.

Stephen A. Smith on First Take gave the Chiefs a piece of his mind on trading Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins. “How in the hell did you let him get away?” Smith asked with frustration. “All those picks, what’s the chances of the Kansas City Chiefs finding another Tyreek Hill. You can’t justify — you can’t say oh you know what they made the right decision they could. The right decision would have been to pay that man and keep him.”

Smith was clearly irked by the Chiefs’ decision to let go of Hill. The 28-year old receiver has been the centerpiece of the Chiefs offense along with QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce. Smith believes it was a mistake to break the best trio in the league by trading Tyreek Hill. The star WR has helped the Chiefs reach 2 Super Bowls, 4 consecutive AFC title games, and 1 World Championship.

“Chiefs ain’t going back to the Super Bowl,” Smith said. Hill was a nightmare for the opposing defenses as he was a constant deep threat and hardly any cornerback could catch with his speed. Now that Hill isn’t with the Chiefs anymore, Smith is sure that the Chiefs have lost their main element and they won’t make it back to the Super Bowl in the near future.

If that’s true or not will be seen soon enough. But the Chiefs have surely taken a major hit in their offensive arsenal now that ‘The Cheetah’ isn’t with them anymore and no amount of draft picks can make up for his talent and play-making ability.
