“The highest paid player, ever” Aaron Rodgers signs a record breaking contract to stay with the Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have finally put their past drama behind them. The 4-time MVP signed a new 4 year, $200 million extension to remain in Green Bay, possibly for the rest of his career.
Aaron Rodgers had his fair share of problems with the Packers stemming back to the 2021 offseason. He wanted out of Green Bay after growing frustrated by constant playoff disappointments. However, the two sides agreed to stick together for at least one more year on a condition.
Rodgers would stay with the Packers in 2021 to try and give it one more go at winning a Super Bowl. If he couldn’t then it was perceived that he would be traded away this offseason. Well, the Packers did fail once again in the playoffs and Rodgers kept quiet about his future plans.
Outside of a report that Rodgers wanted $50 million per year to remain in Green Bay, there wasn’t much given away about his future. While the QB denied reportedly denied that claim, his new deal actually reflects that value.

Aaron Rodgers once again is the highest paid player in the NFL
All the rumors and trade talk can now be forgotten. Aaron Rodgers is staying with the Green Bay Packers. His 4-year $200 million deal makes him the highest paid player in the NFL and includes $153 million in guaranteed money.
The previous mark set by Patrick Mahomes was an average annual salary of $45 million. Aaron Rodgers’ new deal comes in at $50 million per year. The exact amount that it was reported that he wanted.
Despite multiple trade rumors, as time passed, it always seemed like Rodgers was going to return to the Packers for at least 2022. Signing the new deal is a bit unexpected but it’s difficult to argue he doesn’t deserve it. Despite the age factor, Rodgers is now a 4-time MVP winner and has won the last 2. He is still producing at an extremely high level.
The Packers always expressed how much they wanted to keep Aaron Rodgers around and now that they have that sorted for the next 4 years, they can focus on other areas. Keeping him as their quarterback ensures that they will remain a contender and the structuring of the deal lowers his cap hit for this season.
That means that the Packers can find a way to keep the team intact, especially Davante Adams. They’ll ned the pair together if they are to make a serious run in the playoffs. Of course, they have had that in the past and it hasn’t worked out before. But now, the NFC seems to be a bit easier than in previous years. Only time will tell if this massive deal will benefit Rodgers and the Packers.
