“Absolutely NOT” – Nick Wright feels ‘this’ player deserved the Super Bowl MVP more than Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams have done it. They are the World Champions! Super Bowl LVI was a nail-biting game right till the last minute of the fourth quarter. But the Rams crushed the Bengals 23-20 as they registered a stellar win in the biggest games of the year.

The Rams victory can be credited to a lot of players but wide receiver Cooper Kupp was the main star as he scored a crucial 4th down and 1 which ultimately led to a touchdown and sealed the Rams win. Kupp was awarded the Super Bowl MVP for his amazing performance on Sunday night.

“They won that game because of the defense. Aaron Donald should’ve been the MVP of the Super Bowl” – Nick Wright picks Donald over Cooper Kupp

However, First Things First analyst Nick Wright isn’t happy with Cooper Kupp being named the Super Bowl MVP. “Absolutely not”, Wright said expressing his disappointment. “And it’s nothing against Cooper Kupp who was sensational all year and sensational in this game and sensational in the biggest spots on offense.”

“But the reason the Rams won was their defense. The reason the Rams were in this game and the reason the Rams have been to 2 of the last 4 Super Bowls is because they employ one of the greatest defensive players ever. And in every single spot where they had to get a stop, Aaron Donald either got it himself or created it for his teammates. Aaron Donald who might walk away from the game reportedly after this game should’ve been the SB MVP.”

The Bengals QB Joe Burrow was sacked 7 times on Sunday night tying Roger Staubach for the most sacks in Super Bowl history. Wright also mentioned that after Stafford’s pick in the second quarter, the Bengals had an opportunity to lead the game by 2 scores but Aaron Donald stopped the Bengals’ offense from doing so.

Aaron Donald has been one of the main reasons for the Rams reaching the Super Bowl and winning. He was dominant the entire game and made the last sack of the game in the fourth quarter that sealed the Rams’ victory. An argument can be made about Donald being the MVP since both Kupp and Donald were detrimental to their win.

“Aaron Donald is the best defensive player in football. One of the best defensive players ever. The best player in that game. Reason they won that game was the defense. He should’ve been the MVP of the Super Bowl”, Wright concluded.
