“Officials made a big mistake,” NFL blatantly admits to missing two game-changing penalty calls in the Bears-Dolphins game

The Bears-Dolphins matchup was an interesting affair that went on till the last second. Both the teams were matched evenly, although the Dolphins got the better of the Bears with a score of 35-32. The Bears think otherwise.

The officiating in the NFL matchup was considerably weak, especially in the fourth quarter. Many questionable calls were potential game-changers and the Bears think they were denied two important calls that would have turned the tide for them.

Both the calls were on pass interference, the first one was a call on Bears safety Eddie Jackson, where he was going for the ball with his back facing the Dolphins receiver. The referees quickly threw the flag and gave the penalty to the Dolphins. Although later the NFL clarified that the penalty shouldn’t have been called.

“I don’t know what to say. You’re a referee, you’re right on the side, I don’t know how you didn’t see me play the ball.” Eddie Jackson stated. “Replay will show you, I didn’t look at the receiver once the whole time. I was playing the ball the whole way in the air, so it’s like, it’s crazy.”

The second missed penalty was also a similar pass interference offense but this time, the Bears were denied a legit penalty. Bears receiver Chase Claypool was receiving the ball from QB Justin Fields and one could notice the Dolphins’ defender’s hands hugging the WR.

“Justin Fields threw me a good ball to give me a chance, then I felt like I was pulled back a little bit,” Claypool said after the game. “Still gotta try to fight through that and get that, because you can’t count on someone else. Can only count on myself.”

The Bears weren’t satisfied with the officiating in the Bears-Dolphins game and decided to review the calls with the help of the league. The league came back with the results and stated that the referees made two mistakes.

The first one was DPI against Bears safety Eddie Jackson which shouldn’t have been given and the second one was the DPI that should have been called for WR Chase Claypool.

If the Bears would have received the right penalty call then they would have been in field goal range and would have tied the game forcing it into overtime. Now, all we can do is blame the referees as the game is done and the Bears will now have to focus on their next game against the Falcons.
