The Seattle Seahawks suffered a tremendous blow when they traded perennial Pro Bowler and Super Bowl-winning QB Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. Currently, there are rumor mills that suggest DK Metcalf might also be traded from Seattle.

The Seahawks have been publicly denying trade talks about Metcalf. The team has shown no interest in trading their star receiver. It should be noted that they said the same thing when rumors about Wilson’s trade were firing up. They ended up trading him so NFL execs believe the same might be true in Metcalf’s case.

Last Sunday morning, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that several NFL execs believe Metcalf could be had ‘at the right price’. “I’ve talked to some executives who they think that maybe he would welcome a change or maybe Seattle would be willing to move him at the right price,” Fowler said.

Fowler also mentioned that Metcalf received indications from the Seahawks that he wouldn’t be traded for at least one more season. “So, something is going on here; it’s just hard to figure out what. But he’s got one year left on his rookie deal. He would need a new contract as part of a trade. That’s the tricky part.”

DK Metcalf was selected by the Seahawks in the 2nd round of the 2019 NFL draft and signed a four-year deal worth $4.6 million. He quickly transformed into a great WR given his build and speed. With only a year left on his rookie deal, teams are looking to add a receiver of Metcalf’s caliber to their roster.

However, the Seahawks have shown no interest in trading him. But they also haven’t extended his contract giving Metcalf an incentive to stay in Seattle. As Fowler mentioned, Seattle would be willing to trade him “at the right price” that would include a probable first-round pick and a second-round pick. The ball is currently in Seattle’s court and it’ll be interesting to see if they are willing to give up more of their offensive weapons or not.
