Since then, Metcalf has shown his passion for running for the USA team in the Olympics. He did run the 100m race but didn’t qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

During an interview with Taylor Rooks for Bleacher Report, the star receiver expressed his desire to compete in the 2024 Olympics. “I’m not running just to run,” Metcalf said. “I can do that on a track somewhere. I’m tryna go to the Olympics. Next year imma back training for it every offseason. Training for the 100m or 60m, whichever one I decide to do, and then in 2024, you’ll see me again.”

The 24-year old receiver ran at the USA Track and Field Golden Games and Distance Open in Walnut, California, in an attempt to qualify for US Olympic trials in 2020. The 6ft 4in, 235lbs mountain of a man finished the 100m sprint in 10.36 seconds finishing ninth in his heat and 15th overall in the field of 17.

“To test my speed up against world class athletes … just having the opportunity to run against these guys was a blessing,” said Metcalf after the race. This was a respectable time for an NFL athlete who has never run Olympic track before.

Now that Metcalf has confirmed he’s preparing for the 2024 Olympics, it’ll be a treat to watch an NFL wide receiver compete against professional world class athletes. We wish you the best of luck, DK!
