“They’re the absolute best” Brett Favre expects Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to win the Super Bowl

All the talk in the media has to do with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers as they start their road to the Super Bowl this weekend. Their first task may be their toughest as they face the San Francisco 49ers.

All the offseason drama between Rodgers and the Packers has passed but it’s slowly creeping in again. Ahead of the season, it was very clear that this year was a make-or-break for the relationship between Rodgers and Green Bay. Nothing less than a Super Bowl ring is what the common consensus is on what can keep Rodgers in Green Bay.

Once again the Packers proved the regular season to be a formality but as we reach the business end of the season, the pressure piles on. The 49ers have them a real fight early on in week 3 and came 30 seconds short of a win in Green Bay but Rodgers pulled out all his tricks to win that game. As they face the same opponent this week, Hall of Famer and former Packers quarterback Brett Favre gave his thoughts on the situation in Green Bay this postseason.

On a recent interview on ‘SiriusXM NFL Radio’ Brett Favre had this to say about his former team “Rodgers does seem much more at peace with where they are. I think regardless of what they do from here on out really makes no difference because the bottom line is, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers themselves control their own destiny so you have no one to point the blame at. The general manager has nothing to do with how you finish the rest of the season.”

He further added “It’s the players, starting with Aaron. He gets the most attention, deservingly so. He and the players control their own destiny so if they lose this week they have no one to blame but themselves. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t win, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be in the super bowl and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t win it all. They’re the best team in football this season.”

A very clear and objective opinion was expressed by Favre. The players play and they are responsible at the end of the day for delivering the wins. It certainly is sound logic but it’s one that can be applied to previous seasons too and that certainly didn’t stop Rodgers from expressing his displeasure.

Whether or not Rodgers will stay in Green Bay may still be heavily dependent on these playoffs. His first task is to knock off the 49ers and then do what he hasn’t done since 2010, win an NFC championship game. With Favre’s logic, Rodgers will stay in Green Bay regardless of the outcome but that is a very bold take on the situation.
