Aaron Donald was picked 13th overall out of Pittsburgh in the 2014 NFL draft. He dominate every game in his rookie season and was voted to the Pro Bowl. He also won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award and was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team. The rest of the Rams’ defense was not as effective and powerful as Donald was.

The Rams were 17-31 in Donald’s first three years—two in St. Louis, one in Los Angeles. They finished 16th, 13th, and 23rd in scoring defense. “Horrible,” said Donald of his early years. “I tell people all the time it was the worst feeling in the world. It’s kinda like, you keep studying for the test but you keep failing. In St. Louis or that first year in California—that was one of the years I got my most fines just for doing silly things.”
