Cameron Newton

Cameron Jerrell Newton is a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. The NFL career leader in quarterback rushing touchdowns made a comeback to his former franchise this season. After spending as many as 9 years with the Panthers, he went to the Patriots in 2020.

However, he again joined the Panthers in 2021 and everyone expected him to regain his lost glory. It would be fair to say that the season turned out to be quite a disappointment for the Panthers and for Newton. Cam had to watch Sam Darnold in his position from the sidelines for many games.

Moreover, after the Panthers finally managed to win a game after Newton’s rejoining, they ended up losing all of their last seven games to finish the season 5-12. Commenting on if he wants to continue playing, Newton said, “I can tell you, do I have a lot of football, do I want to play? Yeah. But under the right conditions.

I’m not in it for no other reasons but to win. Not the money, it’s not about money to me. It’s just about winning. It has always been about winning. But more than ever, it’s even more about winning. So that’s what it’s pretty much going to come down to,” he added.

Newton claimed that he still enjoys playing the game and that he has got the ability to compete against the very best at the highest level. “I know my skill-set is way better than just a fourth-and-inches type of person, I can tell you that,” Newton said.

Newton went on to add that he wants to come back on the field, but not for a 5-12 type of team. “This point forward, I’m not coming back for no 5-12. I’ll tell you that now. Winning makes everything better. So to what degree I’m willing to do — whether being the starter or not — if it’s about winning, I’m with it. And then if it’s not, then I won’t hitch my wagon to it.”

Without a doubt, Netwon is a fantastic talent and he has achieved a lot in his illustrious career. Although he had a disastrous season, we can expect him to come back stronger next season.
