Josh Allen

Josh Allen emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL during the 2021 season. All his previous struggles were forgotten as he tore up the league and proved he was worth the 7th overall pick the Buffalo Bills used on him.

While the Bills couldn’t wrap up the #1 or #2 seed they still got the #3 seed and got to the divisional round in the playoffs. That was a game that Allen did nothing wrong in. He went toe to toe with Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead in the playoffs and probably would’ve come out on top had the Bills won the coin toss.

The playoffs didn’t pan out the way he would’ve wanted but that doesn’t take away from the illustrious season Josh Allen had. He finished the regular season with 4407 yards, 36 touchdowns and a 63.3 completion percentage along with a 92.2 passer rating. He truly made his mark on the NFL.

In fact, he made such a huge impact that Chris Simms had nothing but praise about him recently.

At the NFL combine, Chris Simms was asked about Josh Allen and he responded with “When you have a guy like Josh Allen, he can cover holes let alone give the team confidence every time he steps on the field. That’s where he’s special. That’s why I love him. He’s the best player in football. In the last 2 years, he’s outplayed Patrick Mahomes. I think those are the 2 best players in the league and if I had to pick one I’d go with Josh Allen.”

Josh Allen certainly matched Patrick Mahomes in their divisional-round matchup and maybe this wouldn’t be so hot of a take had the Bills won the coin toss. It’s possible that they matched up worse for both the Bengals and the Rams and went on to win the Super Bowl.

Had that have happened, I’m sure many people would be calling Josh Allen the best player in the NFL. For now, we just have to wait and see what he can do in 2022 and see if he lives up to the hype once again.
