Christian Gonzalez is a new international prodigy who has set his foot in the NFL. This year’s draft was really interesting as it included various players from diverse backgrounds united under one banner.
When Roger Goodell announced the 17th overall pick for the New England Patriots. There was a young cornerback who showed up with confidence with a Colombian flag on his flag.
Gonzalez was proudly showcasing his origins when selected by the Patriots. He is selected to replace the highly-efficient Super Bowl winner Devin McCourty after his retirement.
There were many people who were confused about his origins. However, when Gonzalez showed up with a Colombian, all doubts faltered. Take a look at the ethnicity of the 20-year-old CB.

What is Christian Gonzalez’s ethnicity?
The United States of America is one of the most diverse countries in the world and Christian Gonzalez is evidence to that. His father, Hector moved from Colombia to the States to play basketball professionally due to his insane height.
However, upon graduating from the University of Texas he returned back to his country to play basketball there. Christian’s mom is an American who was born in Dallas, Texas and that’s where his parents met.
Not only that, Christian’s family is embroiled in the world of sports and his sister has even played in the Olympics. He has three sisters, the elder two were All-Americans in track racing and currently represent Colombia on the international stage. Christian Gonzalez’s parents are Hector and Temple Gonzalez.
One of his elder sisters is also married to the Arizona Cardinals QB David Blough. It’s pretty safe to assume that Christian Gonzalez has a mixed ethnicity and shares both, Colombian and American genes.
Christian Gonzalez will be significant for the Patriots
The New England Patriots have drafted Christian Gonzalez for all the right reasons. After the retirement of Devin McCourty, they needed a strong secondary to compete in the NFL and the 20-year-old can provide just that.
Although, Christian didn’t start playing football until his final year in High School. The talented CB got good at it pretty fast. He played two seasons in Colorado University and stood out. He had 73 tackles and nine pass deflections. In 2022, he transferred to Oregon and managed to dominate there as well by recording 50 tackles and 11 pass deflections.
Christian Gonzalez will be teaming up with the Patriots defense who have a ton of experience. He will be sharing the field with the Super Bowl winner Jalen Mills and Pro Bowler Adrian Phillips.
