“This is what he wanted” Colin Cowherd believes Tom Brady is in control of what happens in Tampa Bay
Tom Brady and Colin Cowherd
Tom Brady has found himself amongst mass speculation surrounding his head coach Bruce Arians’ shock retirement. Many people believe Brady is the reason Arians is gone. Colin Cowherd doesn’t necessarily think Brady caused the retirement but that it certainly was what he wanted.
There is some truth to the narrative that Tom Brady is the reason Bruce Arians retired. Arians told ‘Pro Football Talk’ “Tom was kind of the key. When Tom decided to come back, and all of these guys back now, it’s the perfect timing for me just to go into the front office and still have the relationships that I love.”
That certainly doesn’t imply that Brady wanted him gone, in fact, it’s quite different. Brady being back helped Arians know that he wouldn’t be handing over a team missing a massive piece to Todd Bowles and expecting him to find a way to manage. He now has stars and can help the team contend for another Super Bowl.
Still, many people believe this isn’t the truth. While Colin Cowherd seems to think it is true, he also explained why he thinks Brady wanted the Bucs to move on from Arians as the head coach.
Colin Cowherd claims Tom Brady has ‘power’ in Tampa that he didn’t have in New England
In a segment of his show, ‘The Herd’, Colin Cowherd was quoted saying “The Tom Brady we’re getting in Tampa is a much more authentic version. Now he’s much more wealthy and powerful. And, what he wanted is what happened. This is what he wanted. If Tom, wanted Arians back, then Bruce Arians is the coach. That doesn’t mean he shoved him out the door.”
Cowherd further added “Tom was always this guy. He was intense. He was a killer. He just didn’t have the power. That’s why he negotiated his way to get out of there(New England) because he wanted more power. This Tom is the way more authentic Tom. I think ultimately, this is what Brady wanted and he gets what he wants. He’s in a powerful position and he knows he’s not gonna be in it for long. So, when you get it, use it.”
He clearly states that he doesn’t believe Tom Brady forced Bruce Arians out but it’s not at all hard to believe that Brady wanted it. His whole career he’s been obsessed with outworking people and grinding his way to the top and Bill Belichick was like that too. So while they may have had their differences, their one fundamental thought about football was common. That’s how things worked in New England.
With Bruce Arians, Tom Brady had a much more different head coach and it’s not all hard to imagine he didn’t like being under a more laid-back coach. So, Brady may not have forced this, but he probably is quite happy that it happened.
