“This is not an anti-Baker rant, but…”: Colin Cowherd makes shocking claims about Baker Mayfield’s future with the Browns
Baker Mayfield and Colin Cowherd
The Cleveland Browns had a rather forgettable season this time around. With 8 wins and 9 defeats, they finished third on the AFC North points table and failed to make their way to the playoffs. One man who particularly had a disastrous season for the Browns was Baker Mayfield.
Baker was the man who was expected to guide his side to important victories, however, throughout the season he failed to find his rhythm and was caught off-guard by even mediocre defenses. The QB threw 13 interceptions and fumbled 6 times this season.
Mayfield was trolled mercilessly by fans and rumors about Mayfield’s exit from the Browns also started surfacing. Talking about Mayfield’s future in the league, Colin Cowherd had a few things to say on the latest edition of “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”
“There are bigger and more athletic quarterbacks available than Baker Mayfield”: Colin Cowherd
Colin claimed that a lot of Browns fans would not like the news but it is true that the Browns are looking to make big changes. Colin said, as reported by Mary Kay Cabot, “the Browns are looking to explore all the options, including drafting a quarterback. I am sorry to hurt your feeling Browns fans but this actually good news.”
Colin added that although he thinks that the Browns can win with Baker, it is a fact that the franchise can get someone better than Baker to do the needful. “This is what Andy Reid did with Mahomes over Alex Smith. Baker is fine, but we have higher standards here,” he claimed.
“Let’s take a look at the options Browns will probably have. Carson Wentz, Derek Carr, Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, Jimmy Garoppolo, and one of the two college quarterbacks. In each case, those quarterbacks are bigger or more athletic, possibly both,” Colin stated.
“This is not an anti-Baker rant. If you want to be great, you have to seek great. You have to move off OK. Do you want them to just stand pat?” Colin further stated. It is true that Baker is an excellent talent but his numbers have forced the Browns to look for better options and we can’t really blame the franchise for it.
