Colts’ Darius Leonard takes a sly dig at Madden 23 as he laughs at his overall Linebacker standing

Madden NFL 23 just released its player ratings and people have been losing their cool over it. While some believe that the Top 10 standings are justified, others believe there are some discrepancies.
Packers’ Davante Adams has been rated 99 overall ahead of Super Bowl LVI MVP Cooper Kupp who stands at 98 overall. Kupp had the most successful season ever by a wide receiver in 2021 but was still ranked 2nd which raises some eyebrows.
Darius Leonard ranked 5th among linebacker for Madeen 23
Madden’s linebackers standings also seemed a bit unreal to some fans including a star player. Darius Leonard of the Indianapolis Colts has been ranked fifth among LBs with an overall rating of 90. Leonard stands behind Fred Warner (94), Demario Davis (93), Lavonte David (92), and Bobby Wagner (91).
The Colts selected Darius Leonard in the second round of the 2018 draft. In his rookie season, Leonard led the league in tackles that won him the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. The 26-year-old star has been productive every year and has made it to the Pro Bowl each of his four seasons. So his 90 overall rating doesn’t seem to make any sense.
Warner, Davis, and David are elite linebackers in their own rights and we can’t make an argument as to why one should be ranked higher than another. The rating might cater to an individual’s own playing preference. Bobby Wagner on the hand might be old for a linebacker at 32 but he is a legend in his own right. Madden was a bit stingy in rating linebackers in this edition. The No.1 linebacker should have been rated at least 96 or at most 97.
Twitter’s reaction to Darius Leonard’s 90 overall rating
Darius Leonard thought his rating was laughable and he expressed the same on Twitter. Fellow players and fans alike ever equally surprised at Leonard’s standing and expressed their amazement through these funny tweets.
