“He is absolutely livid”: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is furious after losing Randy Gregory to the Broncos
Jerry Jones and Randy Gregory
Randy Gregory is a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. The talented defensive end played college football at Nebraska before getting roped in by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was a major part of the team since then and especially in the last season, Gregory delivered what was expected from him.
As far as the stats from last season go, he had six sacks in a total 12 games. Moreover, he recorded 19 tackles and as many as 17 quarterback hits. However, what comes as a major blow to the Cowboys, Randy will not play for them anymore.
“Jerry really wanted Randy Gregory to stay”: Patrick Walker
As a matter of fact, Randy Gregory has been successfully roped in the Denver Broncos. As expected, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not pleased at all with this development. Reportedly, the Dallas Cowboys had struck a deal with Randy and everything was going smoothly.
However, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Gregory ended up changing his mind. “For the record, Randy Gregory accepted much less money to agree to terms with the Cowboys. At one point, the gap between their offer and others were roughly $4M-$5M,” Werder wrote.
Moreover, Patrik Walker of CBS Sports also reported that Jerry was really mad about Randy’s departure. “They closed the gap enough, not completely, to the point he agreed. Jerry Jones was passionate about getting this deal done and was largely responsible for it coming together. The post-agreement change was not his idea/doing. I’m told Jerry Jones is livid,” Walker wrote on Twitter.
This is surely a mighty blow to the Cowboys and Jerry being Jerry will not back down from letting everyone responsible for this confusion know how disappointed he is with them.
