“I can’t thank you enough,” Davante Adams leaves heartfelt message for Packers fans after trade to Raiders
Davante Adams
We’re only into the first few days of the free agency window of the NFL but have already had some breathtaking trades amongst the franchises. The Green Bay Packers have seen one of their main wide receivers, Davante Adams leave the franchise for the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Packers were buoyed by the return of Aaron Rodgers to their setup for the 2022 season after the veteran quarterback signed a new contract, but have to do without the services of Davante Adams. Adams signed an extravagant five-year contract averaging $28.5 million per season with the Raiders, and let go of an even lucrative contract from the Packers to earn his move.
Davante Adams is excited to start his journey as a Las Vegas Raiders player next season
For Adams, the 7-year journey with the Green Bay Packers was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. Adams was picked up by the franchise in the second round of the 2014 draft and has grown into one of the most lethal wide receivers of the NFL.
It was only fair that he thanked the Packers fans and the franchise for their continued support over the years, and for helping him turn into a professional from a rookie. Two days after his trade, Davante Adams took to his official Instagram account to leave a long heartfelt message for the fans.
Davante Adams wrote, “Today marks the start of a new chapter in my journey and while I’m incredibly excited to get to work for Raider Nation, I can’t help but to also think about the people and memories that I’ve made my last chapter so special.
“To the Packers organization, I can’t thank you enough for seeing in me what no one else did. That phone call back in 2014 was one of my most memorable moments and I promised myself then that I would do everything in my power to repay you for taking a chance on me. We accomplished a lot together and even through the tough times, you always had my back and your trust in me has never wavered. For that, I’m forever grateful.”
“To all of my teammates over these past eight years, you made coming to work every day worth it. The relationships I’ve made here will stick with me for the rest of my life and I’m incredibly lucky to have gone to battle with you every Sunday. I appreciate you for believing in me and for challenging me to be better every single day.”
“Lastly, to the city of Green Bay and its fans…putting on the green and gold jersey and competing for you has been one of the greatest honours of my life. From day one, you welcomed a kid from the Bay with open arms and made me and my family feel at home there. I can never repay you for your gratitude, but just know that this city will forever hold a special place in my heart. As I say farewell today, I can only hope that I’ve made all of you as proud of me as I am to have represented the city for the past eight years.”
“Much love,
One7.”
Davante Adams was named in the All-Pro teams for two consecutive seasons in 2020 and 2021, while he also earned himself a place on the Pro Bowl sides for 5 consecutive seasons from 2017. Although he failed to win the Super Bowl with the Packers, it was a ride worth remembering for the 29-year old.
