Yet another tragedy struck the NFL community. While it is disheartening to learn about the demise of an NFL athlete, it hurts more when the departed soul is a teenager.
The O’Connor High School community is mourning the loss of a former student and football player Charles Trammell. At the time of his death, Trammell was helping a few students change their vehicle tires.
Charles Trammell was well-liked by his peers and coaches and his death has deeply affected them

Charles Trammell, 20, died on Saturday in Fort Wayne while helping stranded students on a highway. Trammell who was a defensive lineman for Texas Wesleyan was struck by a speeding vehicle which caused his fall off the 60 feet high bridge resulting in his death.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Charles Trammell,” the Texas Wesleyan tweeted Monday. “Our hearts go out to his family, teammates, and friends at such a difficult time. We will miss Charles greatly.” Trammell was kind and giving in nature and his former high school coach David Malesky wasn’t surprised by the fact that the lineman was helping others during his last moments.
“He was everybody’s friend. Kids in general, they kind of have their group of special friends, but Charles always seemed to be a friend to everybody,” said Malesky. “He had a laugh that was a little bit different. It was kind of like a Santa Claus laughing with those deep ones.”
“Everybody gravitated to him. Everybody knew who Charles was and that wasn’t just on the football field, but that was also at school,” said O’Connor Assistant Coach Shane Messer. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the police have arrested 28-year-old Miguel Lopez from Fort Wayne, Texas for his involvement in Charles Trammell’s death. He has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle and is being held on an $80,000 bond.
