“Terrible Timing”: Former Seahawks lineman Chad Wheeler removes ankle monitoring device in a bizarre incident

Chad Wheeler, a former offensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks just made the headlines for violating a direct court order as he removed his electronic home monitoring device on Sunday. Wheeler is currently facing domestic violence charges for allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend.
The 28-year-old OT was released by the Seattle Seahawks after he was charged with three counts of domestic violence. Wheeler’s allegations will be heard by the court on September 26 after which he will either go to prison or be cleared of all charges and hope to reignite his NFL career.

Chad Wheeler, 28, played at the collegiate level for the USC Trojans where he was selected as a first-team All-Pac-12 player. Unfortunately, he was not drafted due to multiple injuries and off-the-field issues. He was ultimately signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants. After two years in New York, he was signed to the Seahawks practice squad and promoted to active roster in 2020.
Wheeler had a mundane career in the league as he hardly made any appearance on the field. People would’ve probably forgotten this 6-feet-7, 318 lbs offensive tackle if not for his off-the-field issues. Wheeler was accused by his ex-girlfriend Alleah Taylor of domestic violence. Taylor alledged that he had severely beat her on many occaisson and that he should “definitely” be behind bars.
The offensive lineman went through a “mental health crisis” on Sunday as reported by his attorney as he took off his clothes, removed his ankle monitor and started to walk the streets. Following this incident, Wheeler was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation and released the next morning.
On Tuesday, he appeared in court where he was ordered to have a monitoring device with a bimonthly urinalysis. Taylor’s lawyers argued the judge to increase his bail and that he should be kept in police custody by the judge declined their suggestion. The court will begin the proceedings from September 26.
