Things seemed to be turning up for former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. The ex-49ers’ QB who has been inactive since 2017 has been given a second chance by the Las Vegas Raiders to prove he’s still capable of winning games in the NFL.

The current QB for the Riders, Derek Carr wasn’t threatened at all by his team looking at another player for his position. Rather he supported Kaepernick’s entry into his organization. “I don’t want to speak for everybody in that kind of sense — I don’t want someone mad at me for saying, ‘I think it would be great,’ — but I know him and I would get along great,” Carr said Tuesday, following the Raiders’ first mandatory minicamp practice.

While nothing has been finalized yet by the Raiders, many believe Colin Kaepernick won’t be signed due to his prolonged absence from the game. Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless contemplated what the future holds for Kaepernick as he looks to make his return back in the NF on their show Undisputed. “Skip, I’m like 90-10 they won’t,” Shannon said on the Raiders signing Kaepernick. “I don’t think Derek Carr’s comments help or hurt one way or another. You need to understand a professional athlete normally do not get to sit around, do absolutely nothing in that profession and just come back and pick back where they left off.”

“I’m 99-1 the Raiders signing Kap,” Skip added. “If there had been momentum on that fateful day that he got his tryout, he would not have left the building.” Skip even went ahead and said Colin is better than half of the QBs in the league. But the x-factor that determines his future is “could he get it back”. Even if Kap can throw the football pretty nicely doesn’t mean he can perform the same in an actual game with guys over 250 pounds rushing to rip his head off on the field.

Shannon also added an excellent point stating that Davante Adams, one of the best wide receivers in the league agreed to come to Las Vegas because of Derek Carr. Adams and Carr played college football together at Fresno State and the sole reason for him to leave Green Bay was playing for Carr. So according to Shannon, there is no way the Raiders jeopardize losing Adams over someone like Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick was blacklisted from the NFL when he took a knee during the national anthem showing his support for racial discrimination, police brutality, and other social issues gripping the country. While many commended the QB for his actions, others saw it as a sign of disrespect towards the flag and the nation. Following the 2016 season, Kap became a free agent and remained so as no team wanted to sign him.

Shannon and Skip also pondered over the question of whether the “new Kaepernick” is better than Carr or could get better over the next year. To which Shannon replied, “You get better at football by playing football not just throwing in shorts and t-shirts.” Skip also believes that other teams will never sign Kap over the fear that he wants this platform to speak about his message. “My bottom bottom line is that Colin Kaepernick is not going to play in the NFL again,” Skip concluded.
