Being an NFL fan in the streaming era is expensive and that too before Netflix officially bags the rights to show two Christmas day games from next season. And if an individual is also a connoisseur of college football, then they may have to pay a lot more.

To stay up to date with every single football game taking place in the country, fans need to have subscriptions to no less than four online streaming platforms. This is also before any matchday tickets or Redzone entertainment, depending on which team they support.

YouTube video

The usual cable TV covers most of the games, but not all of them. On top of that, different regional channels of a network show specific games of teams from that area. A fan of the Miami Dolphins would have a hard time watching their team’s game if they lived in Washington or Baltimore unless they traveled.

FS Video

A subscription to Monday Night Football (ESPN), Sunday Night Football (NBC), wild cards, championship games, and the Super Bowl costs around $72.99 per month on YouTube TV. Fans could opt for several options depending on their needs. But the baseline package from Google Services is the norm for cable viewers.

However, that doesn’t cover all the games. So, they would require additional streaming packages from YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV. This covers all the regular-season games, along with the playoffs and the Super Bowl.

What are some of the online streaming services NFL fans need subscriptions to watch football games?

Peacock (NBC Sports)

The NFL announced last month that it will host the first game of the 2024 season between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on September 6.

They will not have a post-season game in their lineup, but fans don’t have to pay extra for regular-season games because they are covered in the $5.99-month package.

Amazon Prime

Since 2022, Prime Video has become a must-have for NFL fans considering it hosts the Thursday Night Football games along with the wild card fixtures. Fans need to pay $8.99 per month to subscribe to the platform.

Now those who enjoy movies and various TV series on the Prime platform have to pay $14.99 per month ($139 annually).

Netflix

The newest addition to the streaming block. Earlier this month, the NFL announced a possible collaboration with Netflix to stream not one but two Christmas Day football games. Fans would only be required to subscribe for one month (December).

So, six months of YouTube TV, five months of Prime Video, and one month of Netflix, along with Peacock and ESPN Plus, add up to a total of $506.86. That’s without the matchday tickets, which cost around $349. So, the grand total would stand roughly around more than $850.
