AFC #1 seed and the winners of AFC North, the Baltimore Ravens (13-3) will welcome wild card-chasing Pittsburgh Steelers at the M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday, January 6. The Ravens are on a six-game winning streak, while the Steelers won their last two games after losing three straight.
John Harbaugh‘s Ravens made short work of fellow AFC side Miami Dolphins by scoring 56 points to Miami’s 19. Quarterback Lamar Jackson furthered his case as the NFL MVP by throwing five touchdowns. Rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers gained 102 yards to increase his tally for the season to 858 yards and scored one touchdown (5 for the season).

After the Week 14 loss to the lowly New England Patriots, many foreshadowed that 2023 will be the year Mike Tomlin‘s achievement of having a winning record in every single season finally comes to an end. Because starter Kenny Pickett is in rehab and backup Mitch Trubisky can’t win games.
However, help arrived in the form of Mason Rudolph, who orchestrated the Steelers’ last two wins over the Cincinnati Bengals and the Seattle Seahawks. Rudolph combined to throw 564 yards on 35 completions and 2 touchdowns with a quarterback rating of more than 70.
It will be Harbaugh and Tomlin’s 35th meeting in the NFL. In the previous 14 ties, the Steelers head coach won 19 while the Ravens HC won 15. These two teams met in Week 5 this season—Pittsburgh won 17-10 at Acrisure.

Why can the Baltimore Ravens win?
The Baltimore Ravens are resting Lamar Jackson for Tyler Huntley, who has completed six passes for 57 yards in four outings. The 25-year-old is not a newcomer to Harbaugh’s set-up, even earning a Pro Bowl call-up. So Pittsburgh should not take them lightly. More so because of the players he will be throwing to. Flowers, Gus Edwards, and Rashod Bateman will be there to back him up.
However, Tomlin’s team will be facing one of the league’s top defenses. The Ravens currently rank fourth in yards per game allowed (302.1) and have conceded just 24 touchdowns all season. They have the second-best Red Zone defense, with opposing teams scoring just 40.4% of their tries.
Why can the Pittsburgh Steelers win?
Mason Rudolph has unleashed wide receiver George Pickens in the last two games. Pickens went 195 yards and 135 yards, scoring 2 touchdowns and reaching his maiden 1000-yard campaign. If these two players can link up, with Diontae Johnson giving support, the Ravens need to watch out.
Pass rusher T.J. Watt will not be touching his 22.5 sacks in 2021, but he still leads the league in that category with 17 in 2023. The big massive for Mike Tomlin will be Cam Hayward, but Watt and Alex Highsmith will make life hard for Baltimore QB Huntley.
