The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Lucas Oil Stadium and face the Indianapolis Colts on the NFL’s first Saturday night game in 2023, at 4:30 p.m. ET. Mike Tomlin‘s team will be hoping for a repeat of history because they have not lost to the Colts since November 2008. They have won eight straight games since then, and the last one came in 2022.
However, fixture history is one thing, but what matters most are recent results. Taking that into account, the Steelers are in trouble because they are coming off a loss against the New England Patriots, who have lost 10 games this season.
Not only that, they will be without quarterback Kenny Pickett, who is out through injury. It could have gotten worse if TJ Watt had not managed to shake off a mild concussion that he suffered in the Patriots game.
The Colts, on the other hand, are the surprise package of the season. They are one of the teams alongside the Steelers, operating with a second-string quarterback. Shane Steichen‘s side lost rookie starter QB Anthony Richardson early on in the season, and since then, Gardner Minshew has steadied the ship.

Why can the Indianapolis Colts win?
Nobody from the Colts team had a standout game in their loss against the Bengals. But Minshew and Mo Ali-Cox were the ones who put up a decent fight. They were tied 14-14 in halftime, but Jake Browning scored 20 more points for the Bengals to win the game. Michael Pittman Jr. had eight catches for 95 yards, so he will be one of the main men for the Colts.
Their rushing game will be the key in this game. Indi ranks 17th overall as a rushing offense, putting up an average of 116.5 yards per game and scoring 16 touchdowns.
Why can the Pittsburgh Steelers win?
Mike Tomlin’s Steelers are 7-6 for the season, yet they are 27th in overall passing yards (292.5) and scoring just 20 TDs (28th). Where they lack is the passing game; they make up for it in ball carries. Pittsburgh is 15th, averaging 112.6 yards per game, but they don’t score many (9).
Quarterback Mitch Trubisky has thrown for 117 and 190 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 pick since replacing Pickett. He needs to get receiver George Pickens into the game more. Pickens last three games have only seen him catch the ball 12 times.
