The Sunday Night Football game this week is a matchup between two AFC teams looking to make a deep playoff run this season. The Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars came into the season with Super Bowl aspirations. The Ravens are 10-3 and are at the top of the AFC, whereas the Jaguars are 8-5 and are in the mix to snatch the number one seed from the Ravens.
The Ravens are having a fantastic season. They have had some talented players in recent years, but their roster was never fully healthy to make a postseason run.
However, that is not the case this year, as all the main players on the team are healthy and are playing some fantastic football. The Ravens will enter their Sunday Night matchup against the Jags on the back of a 37-31 win over the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday.
The Jaguars, on the other hand, came into the season with a Divisional Round appearance last year. They made the postseason with a record of 9-8 and sneaked in as Wild Card.
They met the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round and created history by erasing a 27-point deficit to win the game. This season, the Jags are looking to build on that, but they have lost their last two games and will have to bounce back as soon as possible.
The 90s was an era of dominance for the Jaguars over the Ravens. They won all their eight games against the Baltimore-based team from 1996 to 1999. The turn of the century, though, has been a lot kinder to the Ravens as they have won most of their matchups against the Jags. Both these teams met in November last year. The Jags won a close encounter at home by one point.
