“How can you not root for this guy?” – Eagles QB Gardner Minshew spent the 2022 offseason living in an old prison bus

This offseason has been one hell of a ride for Philadephia Eagles quarterback Gardner Minshew. The “Jock Strap King” had a fun-packed cross-country trip on a bus. However, this wasn’t just an ordinary bus. It was an inmate transport vehicle that the star QB had renovated.
Minshew’s personal trainer Anthony Tumbarello was baffled when the Eagles QB first revealed his intention of living in a bus outside of Tumbarello’s gym in Bonita Springs, Florida, this offseason. However, it was worth it as Minshew grew as a signal-caller in these past few weeks.

Gardner Minshew was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He bet out his competition to become Nick Foles‘ backup QB. He got a chance to start in his rookie season due to Foles’ injury and he finished with a 6-6 record. He officially became the Jaguars starting QB in 2020 but missed out on most of the games as he suffered a major injury, fracturing multiple bones and tearing a ligament in his thumb. The Jaguars traded Minshew to the Eagles in 2021 in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
To get ready for the 2022 season, Gardner Minshew decided to clear his mind by living out one of his childhood dreams. He bought an old prison bus and gave it a complete makeover with a bright orange couch accented with white shag throw pillows, a flowery ’70s-style bed skirt, and a trove of album covers lining the walls (Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Janis Joplin, Black Sabbath — the works), candles, and a lava lamp.
“I just love the freedom that it affords me. It affords me a place to come and focus,” Minshew said in an Instagram video revealing how he spent his summer. “I’m living at the gym, eat, sleep, shower here. Everything. It’s kind of my own little island here. I love it.” However, his time on the bus has come to end as he is more focused than ever to attain the QB1 status. With a heavy heart, the 26-year-old QB announced he is selling the bus for $25,000. “This grisled [sic] vet has seen 146k miles,” Minshew wrote. “When I took her to get serviced most recently, the mechanic said in his professional opinion, and I quote, ‘This thing is awesome, man!'”
Jalen Hurts runs the show in Philadelphia for now but you never how the tide turns in the NFL. One day you are a starting QB and the next you are stuck with a team and no visible future in the league (Yes we are talking about Baker Mayfield). So, there might be hope for Minshew if he manages to lead the Eagles better than Hurts if and when the opportunity presents itself.
