Gracie Hunt and Kansas City Chiefs
The Denver Broncos nearly pulled off the upset in Week 18 Saturday night opener against Kansas City. The Broncos had a 14-10 halftime lead. However, Patrick Mahomes bested Drew Lock and registered a 28-24 win against Denver.
During the first half of the game, it looked like Drew Lock might be successful in ending the Chiefs’ long-standing win streak against Broncos. Broncos QB Drew Lock rushed for 2 touchdowns which gave them the halftime lead. It was the first time a Broncos quarterback has rushed for two touchdowns in a game since Tim Tebow did so back in 2011.
Patrick Mahomes was 27 of 44 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns. Tyreek Hill injured his heel pregame warmups and played limited snaps. With Hill out, Mecole Hardman was the leading receiver for Kansas City with eight catches for 103 yards on 11 targets.
Gracie Hunt cheers for her team on Saturday
While a win is a win, the Chiefs’ defensive performance should have been better than what it was against the Broncos. The Broncos racked up 191 rushing yards, led by Melvin Gordon’s 110 yards. Denver also scored each of its three touchdowns on the ground. Thanks to Melvin Ingram’s forced fumble, the Chiefs managed to defeat the Broncos who were on the verging of winning. Ingram’s fumble led to an 86-yard scoop and score touchdown by rookie Nick Bolton.
Gracie Hunt, daughter of Chiefs’ owner, Clark Hunt, was seen cheering for her team on Saturday’s season finale game. The 22-year-old was a budding soccer star on her way to play at college at SMU but four concussions derailed that dream. However, she followed into her mother, Tavia Shackles’ footsteps, and entered the beauty pageant world. It didn’t take Hunt long to make her mark. She was crowned Miss Kansas USA last year.
The Chiefs’ are still in contention for the No.1 seed in AFC. All the Chiefs need to clinch the No.1 spot in AFC is for Tennessee Titans to lose to Houston Texans.
