Tom Brady’s retirement shook the entire NFL world. Even though everyone speculated that the legendary quarterback is going to retire at the end of this season, it still was a difficult announcement to digest. The Buccaneers QB was still in his prime when he decided to hang up his cleats.

However, Kevin Wildes on First Things First said Brady might make a comeback next season. He feels Brady has not fully retired from football and the door is still open for him to return to the NFL.

“First of all he hasn’t said he’s retired”, Wildes said speculating Brady’s return. “So I do think the door is slightly open. I think he’ll be retired when he submits his retirement papers to the league office. I don’t think that this is a hot take that Brady is more likely to come back than stay retired.”

“People are looking at it through three superstars and their own personal experiences. The 3 superstars are — Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, and Jim Brown. Guys who had more in the tank were healthy and decided to shut it down. You could argue that Tom Brady is the Most Valuable Player this year.”

In the 2021 season, Tom Brady has led the NFL in passing yards (5,316 yards), passing TDs (43), passing attempts (719), and passing yards per game (312.7). It is crystal clear that Tom Brady hasn’t left his prime yet.

“On this side of the ledger, you got Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, and Jim Brown. On this side, I’m gonna give you a list of great players who had more in the tank, who announced their retirement and came back — Brett Favre, Michael Jordan twice, Michael Phelps, Randy Moss, Deion Sanders to name a few,” Wildes added.

Wildes is of the opinion that the 44-year old QB will not return for the entire season. He might come back in the middle of the season or towards the end. “So I think it’s more likely that Tom Brady still has the fire, that he can still do it and he will come back,” Wildes concluded.
