“He will bring an offensive mind”: Peter Schrager believes Nathaniel Hackett is exactly what the Broncos need in a Head Coach

The Denver Broncos have selected Nathaniel Hackett as the 18th head coach in club history. The Broncos patted way with Vic Fangio after they ended their season with a 7-10 record.

Under former coach Vic Fangio, the Broncos’ defense remained one of the best in the NFL, but the offense couldn’t get off the ground due to inconsistent quarterback play. So, with Hackett on board as the head coach, the Broncos are hoping he might revive their offense regardless of who the next quarterback might be.

Hiring Nathaniel Hackett might also attract Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers to the Broncos

Analyst Peter Schrager on the show Good Morning Football talked about how Nathaniel Hackett is the perfect fit for the struggling Broncos. Schrager said, “He went to UC Davis and majored in Neurobiology Physiology & Behaviors then went on to teach a hip hop dance class and then eventually gets back into coaching.” Hackett’s journey to the NFL has been an adventurous one.

“Let’s talk about the 2017 Jacksonville Jaguars where it’s Blake Bortles and a young Lenoard Fournett and it’s a couple of wide receivers you might not be familiar with got to the AFC Championship game and were a path short from beating the Patriots.” Schrager feels Hackett has the offensive mind and experience that Denver is in desperate need of right now.

The Packers have the second-most offensive TDs (160) and the fewest giveaways (37) in the NFL since Hackett became the Offensive Coordinator in 2019. As the OC, Hackett didn’t call plays in Green Bay, but is considered innovative and energetic, and can relate to players, which will serve him well as a first-time head coach.

Over the last few years, the Broncos have had only defensive coaches in Vic Fangio and John Fox. So, the signing of Nathaniel Hackett is the right move here for the Broncos. “The ultimate allure is you might have Davante Adams as a free agent and Aaron Rodgers on the market. If you’re gonna trade them outside the conference, Denver is an AFC team and Hackett and Rodgers are very tight,” Schrager concluded.
