After more than a month of trade talks between the Jets and the Packers, the teams have finally agreed on fair compensation for 4x NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers was heavily recruited to the Jets by the players themselves, including DROY Sauce Gardner, OROY Garrett Wilson, and Breece Hall. And this was before Rodgers went live on The Pat McAfee Show to reveal his intentions to play for the Jets.
The Jets also signed weapons in bulk for Rodgers on the offense and now that the trade is finally a done deal, the New York-based franchise is now a Super Bowl contender. As reported by ESPN, “the Jets odds at Caesars Sportsbook to win the Super Bowl are 14-1.”
What was the cost incurred by the Jets in acquiring Aaron Rodgers?

Trading for Aaron Rodgers wasn’t an easy task for the Jets, who are betting everything on the quarterback to win them a Super Bowl in 2023. The Jets have a 12-year playoff drought and if Rodgers fails to take them over this bridge, then this trade will go down in history as one of the biggest mistakes ever made in the league.
Talking about the compensation, the Packers traded Aaron Rodgers along with pick no. 15 and 170 of the 2023 draft. The Jets gave up picks no 13, 42, and 207 of the 2023 draft and a conditional second-round pick of the 2024 draft that automatically becomes a first-rounder if Rodgers plays 65 percent of the plays.
New York gave up a lot of picks to trade for 39-year-old Rodgers who is coming off a subpar season. Many analysts and fans believe that he will play only one season for the Jets before hanging his cleats and calling it a career. While there is no doubt Rodgers has the capability to lead the team to the top of the conference, his postseason record doesn’t exactly boost confidence. In his 18-year illustrious career, Rodgers has been to the Super Bowl just once. Tom Brady has lost more Super Bowls than Rodgers has made appearances!
Still, Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback to play for the Jets in the past decade. This trade is quite similar to the one the Jets pulled when they signed Brett Favre from the Packers. Favre didn’t have a great season in New York and let’s just hope for the Jets fan that history doesn’t repeat itself in 2023!
