The US government is under extremely heavy backlash from the entire country for the verdict in Roe v Wade. The SCOTUS passed a law to end the constitutional right to abortion. The historic 1973 Roe v Wade case ended with the Supreme Court ruling by a vote of seven to two that a woman had the freedom to terminate her pregnancy and this right was protected by the US constitution.
Since the court’s ruling, there have been protests all over and athletes, actors, and activists have extended their support. The Cincinnati Bengals’ superstar quarterback Joe Burrow made his views on this national issue clear and inspired others to stand in support of women having control over their own bodies.
Joe Burrow speaks out about the government’s oversight and believes women have a right over their own bodies
Joe Burrow shared a post on his Instagram handle to express his contempt for the government’s decision. “I’m not pro-murdering babies. I’m pro-Becky who found out at her 20-week anatomy scan that the infant she had been so excited to bring into this world had developed without life-sustaining organs,” the post read. “I’m pro-Susan who was sexually assaulted on her way home from work, only to come to the horrific realization that her assailant planted his seed in her when she got a positive pregnancy test result a month later.
“I’m pro-Theresa who haemorrhaged due to a placental abruption, causing her parents, spouse, and children to have to make the impossible decision on whether to save her or her unborn child. I’m pro-little Cathy who had her innocence ripped away from her by someone she should have been able to trust and her 11-year-old body isn’t mature enough to bear the consequence of the betrayal.”

Joe Burrow was praised by everyone for sharing his thoughts about the rising national issue and standing in favor of women having a say over their own bodies. Most of the time high profile athletes refrain from speaking about national issues as they might attract backlash from fans for their statements if they aren’t politically correct. So, hats off to the Bengals’ QB for speaking his heart out and standing tall against the injustice done by the country’s justice system.
