Antonio Brown was one of the best wide receivers in the early stages of the 2010s. After getting drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL draft, Brown quickly became a mainstay of the Steelers’ offense.
After only playing 9 games in his rookie season, Brown took the NFL by storm in his next season, garnering more than 1,000 receiving yards and more than 1,000 returning yards, becoming the first player in league history to do so. He had a six-year stretch, from 2013 to 2018, where he went for more than 1,000 receiving yards and had more than 100 receptions.
However, Brown was also involved in a lot of controversies throughout his career. After getting traded from the Steelers, Brown bounced around the league but never fully reached the same heights again. He won Super Bowl LV with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but quit the next season after a sideline bust-up with the former Bucs coach Bruce Arians. So the question now is, did Brown play football again?

Is Antonio Brown still playing football?
Sadly no, the former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout is currently out of the NFL. He played for multiple teams since his Steelers days, but failed to make a lasting impact on either of those teams. He did win a Super Bowl title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but another controversy meant that the Bucs released him in January 2022.
Antonio Brown retired from the NFL and football altogether earlier this year, but announced his unretirement the following month. Since unretiring, he hasn’t found a spot on any NFL roster yet and it is highly unlikely that he will.
When Antonio did Brown retire?
Antonio Brown announced his retirement from football in March 2023. However, he unretired in April 2023 and has been a free agent since then. Brown last played in the league in the 2021 season.
Antonio Brown’s timeline since release
The former Steeler WR was released from his last team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on 6th January 2022. He was passed through waivers a couple of days later without any team picking him up. Since then, Brown has retired and unretired from professional football. He announced his retirement in March 2023, but he later unretired in April and has been a free agent since then.
Antonio Brown outlook
Antonio Brown was considered one of the best WRs of his generation. After enjoying early success with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown never reached those same heights again. He suffered a concussion in the 2016 season after an illegal hit by the Cincinnati Bengals’ linebacker Vontaze Burfict.
Brown has been out of the league for two years and is a free agent. His time in the league is likely over as teams have moved on from him. He recently tweeted about a potential comeback to the Steelers, but there hasn’t been any indication of signing him.
